Feeding the ducks

I was outside weeding, when all of a sudden these three ducks landed right by me. I ran inside and got some bread and Maddie and Jack fed them. They come back almost everyday. It's so much fun. The kids see them and yell, "The ducks are back!" This time we cheated and just threw the bread out the window.

Happy Birthday Jack! Oh oops, sorry Mads.

Jack had a great party the Sunday before his birthday. I asked him for weeks what kind of cake he wanted and he always said a Wall-e cake, so that's what he got. Everyone was so nice to come and bring him some great gifts. His favorite present was a tractor that Grandma and Grandpa gave him. As soon as he opened it he wanted it OUT OF THE BOX! His Birthday started out great and fun, but it ended kind of sad. He wanted waffles for breakfast, so we sang Happy Birthday and he blew out his candles on his b-day waffles. Then I took them to the Treehouse and we had so much fun. We came home and started making pizza for dinner. (Jack loves pizza!) I had them both sitting on the counter helping me. Maddie was closer to the edge than she realized and lost her balance and fell off. She landed right on her elbow and as soon as she landed, I knew something had happened to her arm. Derek was still at school, so I called my neighbor and she watched Jack for me. He didn't mind though, he loves playing with Gage. I took Maddie to the instacare, and luckily for us there wasn't a wait. We got right in and the Dr. looked at her arm and said she needed some x-rays. Maddie was so brave, she was just quietly crying and it broke my heart. She said she wanted Daddy. I wished he was there too! The Dr. showed me her x-ray and you could see a perfect break right below her shoulder. She had to wear a brace for at least three weeks, and had to see an orthopedic surgeon to make sure she didn't need surgery. I felt so awful! As they were wrapping her arm, she was screaming and I had to hold her down. I just started sobbing. The Dr. was filling out her pain killer prescription and the nurse asked, "Can you give Mom something?" It was terrible. We got home around ten and Jack was still up, he got a sucker out of the candy drawer and wanted to eat it. Normally there is no way I would let him eat a sucker at 10 at night, but it was his Birthday and it kind of got ruined, so I let him eat the sucker. The sugar plus being up so late, made him crazy and he had a great time. We had a great time watching him. Happy Birthday to my sweet Bubba-Boo!

The kindness of a stranger

Yesterday was one of those "why me" days. Derek had to go take a test at school and I had to run some errands, so I took the kids with me. We were at Jo Ann's and Maddie wanted me to open her M&M's, but I had my arms full with Jack, my purse, and my bag of stuff. She was crying and whining as we walked to the parking lot. I told her I would open them when we got to the car. Well she got so mad and ran back into the store screaming. She is throwing the biggest tantrum in front of all the people waiting in line. So I set Jack down to try to calm her down, and I look up and he is taking off out the store. So I scoop Maddie up kicking and screaming and chase after Jack. I get to him just as he's about to run into the parking lot and he starts screaming. So there I was at my wits end wrestling with two screaming kids and people staring as they walk past me. Then a lady came and asked if she could help me. She picks up Jack and starts talking to him in Spanish and being the big flirt he is, he just smiles at her. I opened Maddie's M's for her and get her calmed down and take Jack back from her. She scooped up Maddie and talks to her and Maddie smiles back at her. She asked me where my car was and followed me over and buckled Maddie into her car seat! By this time I was so overwhelmed with her kindness and upset that my kids acted so bad, I was sobbing. I thanked her and wished I could do something for her. I was so grateful for the kindness of a stranger and I hope I can do that for somebody someday too.

A question for all the Mom's out there!

I registered Maddie for preschool starting in the Fall. The problem is I can't decide if I want to put her in now when she is three or wait until she is four. I keep going back and forth on the issue. On the one hand, I know she would love it and it would be good for her socially, but on the other I don't want her to grow up to fast and plus I still want her to be with me! Maybe I'm just having a hard time letting go. :) Let me know what you've done with your kids and what you think about it. Thanks!

My wife is so beautiful

Just today my wife came out of the bedroom and I thought to myself, "she is so beautiful". Tina I just wanted to say that I love you so much and thank you for being so strong. You are so awesome with the kids and with me. I always say I'm the third child and it is so true. You have been so supportive through all my school and that is something that I cannot repay. When I say that I'm going to be at school all day on saturday you do not even hesitate or complain, you always say ok and good luck. I'm starting to think you want me to go to school every saturday to get rid of me or something.jk Tina you are a knockout and I love you with all my heart and I will always be there for you just like you are for me. Happy Valentines day Baby. Love Derek
